Does completing the Everlab program impact my life or health insurance premium?

Will Everlab testing affect my life or health insurance?

Life insurance disclosure

Disclosure rules for health or genetic testing can vary depending on your life insurance policy. However, it is highly unlikely that Everlab’s testing will need to be disclosed.

Recent changes to Australian law mean that genetic test results no longer need to be disclosed for life insurance purposes. You can learn more about this ruling here.

If you’re unsure, we recommend:

  • Contacting your life insurer before starting your testing.

  • If your insurer says the testing impacts your policy, we’re happy to refund your deposit.

Health insurance premiums

Generally, diagnostic testing like that offered in Everlab’s programs does not directly impact your health insurance premiums.

Here’s why:

  • Premiums are mostly based on factors such as age, gender, location, smoking status, and sometimes medical or claims history.

  • Results from preventive health diagnostics are typically confidential and not automatically shared with insurers.

  • Insurers usually don’t adjust premiums based on test results unless those results lead to a formal diagnosis and a claim is made.

  • Some insurers may provide discounts or wellness incentives for participating in health programs, but these are separate from premium changes based on diagnostic outcomes.

What to do if you’re concerned

If you have concerns about how diagnostic results might affect your premiums, the best approach is to:

  • Check directly with your insurance provider.

  • Review your insurance policy’s terms carefully.
