How to set up and use Google Meet for Your telehealth consult
Getting Started with Google Meet
Before Your Appointment
Check your email for the Google Meet link from Everlab - it will look like: meet.google.com/xxx-xxxx-xxx
Test your setup 15 minutes before your appointment
Use Chrome for best results
Ensure your camera and microphone are connected and working
Joining Your Consultation
Click the meeting link in your appointment email or reminder SMS
Allow camera and microphone access when prompted by your browser
Click "Join now" to enter the consultation
Common Troubleshooting Issues
"My audio isn't working"
Check your browser permissions:
Click the lock icon in your browser's address bar
Ensure microphone is set to "Allow"
Refresh the page after changing permissions
Test your microphone:
Click the three dots menu in Google Meet
Select "Settings" > "Audio"
Speak to see if the level indicator moves
Try a different browser if issues persist
Check if you're muted - look for the microphone icon at the bottom of the screen
"It's asking me to download an app"
You don't need the app - Google Meet works in mobile browsers
To use browser on mobile:
Open the link in your web browser
Click on three dots and click on use desktop version
Enter the meeting code or click your meeting link
Alternative option: Download the free Google Meet app from App Store or Google Play for a smoother experience
If automatically redirected to app store: Press back and choose "open in browser" instead
"It's asking me to sign in but I don't have a Google account"
You don't need a Google account to join as a guest
Look for "Join now" or "Ask to join" button
Enter your name when prompted (no sign-in required)
If still blocked: Clear your browser cache and try again
Alternative: Try opening the link in an incognito/private browser window
"I'm not sure if I'm on the right link"
Check your appointment confirmation email for the correct link
Verify the meeting code matches what's in your email (xxx-xxxx-xxx format)
Look for "Everlab" or your clinician's name on the waiting screen
If you see "Waiting for the host to let you in" - you're in the right place
Join 5 minutes early to ensure you're ready when your clinician arrives
Quick Tips for Success
Use headphones to reduce echo and improve audio quality
Close other programs that might use your camera or microphone
Ensure stable internet - consider using ethernet cable if WiFi is unstable
Have a backup device ready (phone or tablet) just in case
