What does the Everlab physical assessment involve?
Here’s a quick rundown of the tests we’ll be doing to get a comprehensive picture of your strength, stability, and endurance.
Remember to complete your VO2 consent prior to your appointment and bring comfortable exercise clothes.
Countermovement Jump (CMJ)
to assess lower-body power and explosiveness by measuring how effectively your muscles generate force through rapid stretch and contraction. It reflects neuromuscular efficiency, coordination, and the ability to convert strength into dynamic movement — key for athletic performance, agility, and overall functional power.

Isometric Squat Hold
to assess maximal isometric force in the quads and glutes, giving insight into lower-body strength without joint movement.
Grip Squeeze
to assess overall muscular strength and nervous system health — it's strongly linked to functional ability and aging outcomes.
Max Push-Up Test
to assess upper-body muscular endurance and core stability, showing how well you can sustain submaximal effort.
Stability Assessment
to evaluate balance, joint stability, and neuromuscular control — crucial for fall prevention and coordination.
VO₂ Max Test
to measure how efficiently your body uses oxygen during intense exercise — it reflects aerobic capacity and cardiovascular health. This can be performed on either the treadmill or exercise bike. For more information, visit our VO2 max FAQ.
NOTE: Your safety is our top priority. Your doctor has already confirmed whether a full or submaximal VO₂ max test is right for you based on your medical history. During your assessment, if anything doesn't feel right, let your physiotherapist know immediately. We can stop or adjust the intensity.
