Is radiation from a DEXA scan harmful?
Edited
No, the radiation exposure from a DEXA scan is not harmful.
A DEXA scan uses a very low dose of radiation—about 1/10th the amount used in a standard chest X-ray. To put it into perspective, it's less than the natural background radiation most people are exposed to over the course of a single day just by living on Earth.
This makes DEXA one of the safest imaging procedures available, and it’s widely used for both body composition and bone mineral density assessments.
