How do I set up and use my CGM?
To prepare for your nutrition review, you will be given a continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) device to wear whilst also tracking your diet for 7-days.
An introduction from Leif, our Allied Health Lead
How is it applied? Is it painful?
The CGM is virtually painless to apply and can be easily done yourself.
Read the safety information leaflet inside your CGM box before you start
The FreeStyle Libre sensor is applied on the back of the upper arm with an applicator
After applying, a thin fibre is inserted just under the skin
This will measure glucose levels in interstitial fluid
How do I set up my app and scan my sensor for results? How do I calibrate the CGM?
Once the CGM is applied, it only takes an hour to calibrate
You will need a compatible smartphone running the appropriate app (FreeStyle LibreLink app or FreeStyle Libre 2 reader) to track glucose readings
Once you have the app downloaded and your FreeStyle Libre 2 Sensor connected, you are set for the week
Note: If you notice redness, itching, swelling, or a rash where the sensor is sitting (or it becomes painful or starts to lift), gently remove the sensor and please let us know. Do not try to reinsert the same sensor.
